Sebadoh Sign to Joyful Noise for 'Defend Yourself,' Issue 10-inch of 'Secret EP'

Iconic lo-fi outfit Sebadoh have officially set a release date for Defend Yourself, their first LP in 14 years. The album arrives September 17 on their new label home, Joyful Noise Recordings.

The label confirmed the partnership this morning (June 5). While neither a tracklisting nor sound samples have been offered up just yet, a press release notes that the group's follow-up to 1999's The Sebadoh "marks a return to the self-recorded DIY ethos of early Sebadoh albums," such as 1991's III and 1994's Bakesale.

"If a band comes back after being away for 25 years, as a fan, I want to hear the sound of the band again," the band's Lou Barlow had previously told Exclaim! "You want to hear what attracted you to the band in the first place."

Before the LP drops, Joyful Noise will press the band's 2012 Bandcamp release Secret EP onto 10-inch vinyl. Due June 25, the five-song set will appear on standard black wax, as well as on a limited-edition run of 300 copies on green marble vinyl. You can order it over here.

Update: As a reader points out in the comments section, the green marble vinyl edition is now sold out. Sorry, dudes.
