The Scorch Trio

This latest release by the Scorch Trio is marked by the departure of Paal Nilssen-Love and the arrival of Frank Rosaly in the drum chair. This is power trio improvising that narrowly skirts the traps of guitar wankage by some adroit listening and responding by guitarist Björkenheim, electric bassist Håker Flaten and Rosaly stepping into Love's shoes with conviction. The ground trodden has been walked before by Sharrock, McCracken, Kaiser, Keino and, of course, grandmaster Hendrix, but the attention and presence in each piece make it well worth revisiting the form. Each musician is intent and the music shows it.
