The 2Pac-inspired musical opens in just a few months, and now the cast has been revealed for the Broadway production of Holler If Ya Hear Me.
The musical, which is inspired by the lyrics of late rap legend Tupac Shakur, will star hip-hop poet Saul Williams. He's well known as a recording artist but starred in the 1998 film Slam.
Williams appears alongside Broadway regulars like Tony winner Tonya Pinkins, Christopher Jackson, Saycon Sengbloh, Ben Thompson and John Earl Jelks. Newbies Joshua Boone and Dyllon Burnside round out the main cast.
The Todd Kreidler-written musical will be directed by Kenny Leon. It's a non-biographical story that uses 2Pac's lyrics as a jumping off point to examine American inner city life. In other words, it's not actually about Tupac.
Preview performances begin on May 29 at the Palace Theatre on Broadway. The official opening night is June 19. Watch a two-minute behind the scenes clip about the production below.
