In recent years, SappyFest has emerged as one of Atlantic Canada's premier music festivals, and this summer it will return for its eighth instalment. SappyFest VIII is scheduled to take place from August 2 to 4 in Sackville, NB, and the organizers have now confirmed some of this year's performers.
The initial lineup includes Colin Stetson, the Luyas, Chain and the Gang, Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens, and the Underachievers.
These are just five of the 30-plus musical acts that will perform over the weekend. A press release promises that the event will also include "writers, films, performers, guest speakers, dog tricks, circus freaks and a handful of bewildered rednecks." The event is subtitled "Life, Ordinary, Associate. And/Or Fresh Gravel on the Midgic Road."
Early bird passes cost $90 including service fees and are available online from Ticketpro or in person at Sackville's Thunder & Lightning. They're apparently almost sold out, so be sure to act fast if you want to buy one.
