Sally Shapiro

My Guilty Pleasure Remixes

BY Sarah FergusonPublished May 4, 2010

Don't expect to see Sally Shapiro playing live in any of the many cities with which they find connection. The Swedish act, consisting of the gracious vocalist (who is aka Sally Shapiro) and producer/ keyboardist Johan Agebjorn, prefer to share their musical abilities via their work in the studio without desires for fame. Released on Paper Bag Records, My Guilty Pleasure Remixes features pro re-workings of the duo's placid disco by remixers from near and far. Both FM Attack's (Vancouver, BC) remix of "Looking At The Stars" and CFCF's (Montreal, QC) remix of "Love In July" assure My Guilty Pleasures Remixes a place in the record bags of lovers of sparkling, soulful house. Together, the two songs musically juxtapose aspects of each city's unique sound frequency. "Save Your Love" (remixed by New York, NY's Lovelock) is dreamy disco house about awkward communication and past lovers' avoidance of talking. The track remixed by Italy's Bottin ("My Fantasy") would be a Paul Oakenfold selection circa 1998. The tunes done up by Bogdan Irkuk of Bulgaria and Low Motion Disco of Switzerland unite trance and disco with unyielding power.
