Though this Sakura Wars' first North American release, the alternate-reality franchise set in a steampunk-inspired roaring '20s debuted in 1996. So Long, My Love arrived in 2002, which is why its old-school game play runs on PS2 as well as Wii (purists will want to go PlayStation as it boasts Japanese-language audio) but it's also the first set in America ― a demon-infested New York City. It's an odd game ― part strategy RPG, part dating-sim with game-altering dialogue trees and a plotline about the New York Combat Revue's Star Division, a fighting organization that "quells the evil that lurks in the hearts all men with the power of song and dance, but [they] also use the power of the theatre to maintain general order." But don't worry; they also use the power of mecha robot suits that transform into jet fighters.
