The Machine Gets Under Way

BY Rob FerrazPublished Apr 1, 2002

The best thing to come out of Montreal in awhile returns with eight songs of wistfully melodic emo punk. Being on a U.S. label should go a ways to exposing this band to a wider audience, which is a good thing because they deserve it. Expanding on the Crimpshrine meets Hot Water Music formula they started with on their debut, Those Stars Are For You, they’ve matured a ways, with a sound not as raw but still powerful. And they still have the market cornered on sincerity, more so than the first time around. If they can keep this up, and release a full-length of this quality, they may wind up as our best emo export since Shotmaker.
