Said the Whale Get Electronic Overhaul on 'Remixed' EP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 15, 2014

Said the Whale are known for their punchy, guitar-based pop-rock songs, but they will be getting an electronic makeover with on the upcoming Remixed EP. This four-song collection will be out on April 22.

The songs were remixed by the band's own bassist, Nathan Shaw, who produces electronic music under the name Ekali. The tracks were originally debuted live during a Toque Session for the CBC. That performance used only vocals, keyboards and samplers.

All of the remixed material originates from last year's hawaiii. Notably, the hit "I Love You" is included here, along with a few non-singles.

The EP will be available digitally and via a limited run of CDs sold at shows. At the bottom of this page, hear the remixed version of "Safe to Say," which turns the climactic folk rock song into a shimmery R&B slow-burner.

In the next few weeks, Said the Whale are touring the U.S. with headliners Tokyo Police Club. See the schedule below. They plan to tour Canadian festivals in the summer.

1. On the Ropes
