Said the Whale Announce 'Cascadia Cookbook'

There's a meal and drink for each song on their latest album

In the midst of their massive Canadian tour, Vancouver indie outfit Said the Whale have announced they'll be adding a new item to their merchandise table. It's not a cassette or new T-shirt design but a brand new cookbook meant to accompany their latest record Cascadia.

Cascadia Cookbook will include 80 pages of drink and meal recipes meant to go along with their 2019 album and promises Pacific Northwest inspired eats.

In a Facebook post, the band offered up a tasty little preview of one of the recipes for something called "Battered Lingcod Tacos" meant to accompany the album's first track "Wake Up." View that post below.

As odd as the pairing may seem, Said the Whale come from a surprisingly food-focused background. Keyboardist Jaycelyn Brown is a self-proclaimed home cook with "a passion for creating delicious recipes," while vocalist/guitarist Ben Worcester's passions include locally sourced and foraged foods.

The recipes come alongside the photography of Lindsey Blane (a Vancouver music photojournalist) and the band's own Jaycelyn Brown, who has her very own food-oriented Instagram.

Said the Whale are currently on tour in support of Cascadia, and they will be selling the book. The band plan to sell through the cookbook inventory while touring with additional sales online following their December 14 show in Toronto.
