Since releasing his self-titled LP back in September, it would seem that alt-country music-maker Ryan Adams hasn't slowed down for a second. In addition to touring, the prolific songwriter has announced work on music for an Al Pacino movie, plus he's released singles for "Do You Laugh When You Lie?" and the Halloween-themed "Vampires," among others, in an ongoing 7-inch series.
Well, the vinyl enthusiast is keeping the momentum going, having revealed details for the next Pax-Am single. "No Shadow" will be getting the 7-inch treatment with some help from Johnny Depp.
The Hollywood actor appears on the title track and its B-side "It's in My Head." A third track titled "Stoned Alone" was apparently written about Adams' frequent trips to the 7-11 parking lot across the street from his Pax-Am studio.
Pre-orders for the January 13 release are ongoing over here, where Adams also offers up the following statement about the single:
Johnny came rumbling into PaxAm one night with this riff and an idea of what it was about- a few hour later and one take on a 2 inch 24 track tape machine later we had No Shadow… typed up on my manual typewriter and born and delivered from a simple riff we found on his i phone. Johnny is a real songwriter and one of the deepest guitar players out there. That's us singing and playing and playing all the parts ourselves with just our pal Marshal Vore on drums.
The B-side is from the first night we met where all we did was play and didn't say a word. This was the third thing we ever played together and there was no discussion. True rock and roll moments, as they should be, unfussy and delivered with all the heart and soul we had that night.
The appropriately 7-11-themed artwork is pictured above. Below, watch Depp join Adams onstage earlier this year to cover Danzig's "Mother."
