If there weren't already enough music biopics in the works (see here, here, here, here and here), Joan Jett is now throwing her hat in ring. Miss "I Love Rock N' Roll" is reportedly working on her own film about her original all-girl band the Runaways and set to portray Jett in the film is Kristen Stewart, the star of the new film Twilight (which is apparently a big deal).
According to Hollywood Reporter, the Runaways film is simply called The Runaways and will be written and directed by Canadian Floria Sigismondi, who's previously done music vids for bands such as the White Stripes, Sigur Rós, Marilyn Manson, the Cure and Christina Aguilera. Jett will serve as an executive producer.
The biopic will reportedly zero in on Jett and band-mate Cherie Currie, following their rise as teen idols to their "dissolution and disillusionment." The Runaways were formed in 1975 and only lasted for about four years before disbanding over management problems and money issues.
The film is to start shooting some time next year, but will have to work around Stewart's commitments to Twilight, which already has two sequels planned.
