Scandinavian pop worlds collide next week when Robyn and Röyksopp issue their new Do It Again collaboration, but you can hear all of the EP ahead of that May 27 due date through Arts & Crafts now on Exclaim.ca.
We'd previously been treated to the powerful electro-pop pump of the title track and the skewed house screech of "SayIt," which finds Robyn duetting with a seemingly sentient, relationship-seeking Speak & Spell. But elsewhere on the eclectic set, you'll hear the ambitious, steady build of melancholy opener "Monument," flaunting chopped vocals, subtle sax solos and assorted rumbling percussive tones, as well as oscillated heartbreaker "Every Little Thing" and the airy, ambient whoosh of "Inside the Idle Hour Club."
"This five-track mini-album is the accumulation and embodiment of the synergy between Robyn and ourselves," Röyksopp report in a statement. "We've intended this to be a diverse yet cohesive and thought through musical venture; it's meant to be an expression where pop & art reign side by side."
Robyn continued, "In the beginning we just knew we wanted to do something together and then it started to feel more like a band thing than songs for a Röyksopp or Robyn album so we're releasing this music together as a band you could say."
As previously reported, Robyn and Röyksopp will be supporting the set with live dates, including a Toronto date at Echo Beach on August 25. You'll find the rest of their summer plans over here. You can also pre-order the record here.
