While performing at the Pinkpop Festival in Landgraaf, the Netherlands, over the weekend, Robbie Williams had to briefly stop the show because he was seemingly out of breath. The singer-songwriter then revealed to the crowd that he's living with long COVID.
"No, stop. Stop, I'm fucked. I'm fucked," he said on stage instead of kicking off "Monsoon," the fourth song in his setlist, in video footage posted online.
Williams explained, "It's long COVID, I've got long COVID." The former Take That star has had two publicly reported cases of COVID-19, telling fans that he felt "lethargic, tired and heavy" after contracting it at his home in Los Angeles in April 2020 and then again on vacation in St. Barts with his family in January 2021.
"It's not my fucking age, you fuckers," he joked to the audience.
After restarting the song, Williams was able to make it through the rest of his performance without incident.
Other musicians have spoken out about coping with the debilitating effects of long COVID, including the Courtneys' Courtney Garvin and Dave Navarro of Jane's Addiction.
