Plenty of cities have film festivals, but not too many film festivals have plenty of cities. Known for curating the most bleeding-edge shorts, music videos and animation available, RESfest is touring 40 towns around the world. The Canadian leg rolls through Toronto (Oct. 27 to 30), Vancouver (Nov. 11 to 12) and Montreal (Nov. 25 to 27) and features a selection of CanCon efforts, including Metric's new video "Monster Hospital" and "Robota," a three-years-in-the-making Legomation epic about cockfighting. Other highlights include a new short from Napoleon Dynamite's Jared Hess; the sneaker doc Just For Kicks; new videos from Dizzee Rascal, Bloc Party, Arcade Fire and the Flaming Lips; and a Beck retrospective. But the big fest-stealer so far has been Edouard Salier's Flesh, a graphic re-enactment of the Twin Towers takedown in a New York City where the buildings are all covered in girl-on-girl porn. Hit the cinema since most of this innovative imagery won't be coming to a TV near you.
