Last night, the Polaris Music Prize handed out its 2022 prize to Pierre Kwenders for his album José Louis and the Paradox of Love.
But while Kwenders ultimately came out on top, all of the artists had time to shine, with the 10 long-listed nominees performing live at the Polaris Gala at the Carlu in Toronto. Following a performance from last year's winner Cadence Weapon, the night saw performances from Lisa LeBlanc, Hubert Lenoir, Kelly McMichael, OMBIIGIZI, Ouri, Shad, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Charlotte Day Wilson and Fresh Pepper (standing in for Destroyer, who wasn't in attendance) — plus, of course, Kwenders.
Exclaim! was on hand to capture all the action. Below, relive the highlights of the night with photos by Jennifer Hyc.
