Pierre Kwenders has released a new single, "Niata," from the deluxe edition of his 2022 Polaris Music Prize-winning José Louis and the Paradox of Love, arriving June 30 via Arts & Crafts.
Produced by DJ/musician Branko, "Niata" follows the catchy "SMT" (Social Media Therapy), another single released for the deluxe edition of José Louis. "'Niata' is a song that calls to be cautious and careful, reminding us that curiosity killed the cat, everything requires moderation, and that, in love, no one wants to walk on eggshells," said Kwenders in a release.
The Congolese-Canadian artist has also added 10 new stops to his tour schedule, mapping out appearances at festivals in North America and Europe this summer. The 13-date tour begins May 20 and features six Canadian stops, including one at Toronto's Luminato Festival on June 17. See the full schedule below.
Kwenders's critically acclaimed third studio album features lyrics in English, French, Lingala, Tshiluba and Kikongo, and is a collection of songs about personal discovery and the beauties and struggles of romance. The album, recorded over the span of four years, is titled after his birth name and encapsulates Kwenders's skills as both songwriter and DJ.
