What A Gas

BY Cam LindsayPublished Jun 22, 2008

When you’re co-founder of one of the most influence indie labels in the world, you’re bound to forget about the odd thing, like putting your own music back into circulation. Kompakt head honcho Wolfgang Voigt has finally dusted off his long-sought-after albums as Gas, originally released on Mille Plateaux in the ’90s. Voigt has remastered Gas, Zauerberg, Kônigforst and Pop, compiling them in a book-bound case in four-CD or two-LP box sets called Nah and Furn. Gas’s reeling blend of classical, ambient and techno will also be represented by fellow German label Raster-Noton, which is simultaneously publishing Gas: Loops, a book of images capturing the visual side of the music, as well as a CD of hard-to-find and unreleased Gas tracks and loops. Now, on to Voigt’s 31 other projects…
