Real McKenzies

Loch'd and Loaded

As unlikely a punk rock instrument that the bagpipes are, they've managed to gain a degree of currency these days, and a love or hate of the pipes will sway how you feel about the new record from Vancouver's Real McKenzies, as they're an integral part of their kilt-clad punk sound. Although they share some common ground with the Dropkick Murphys, the McKenzies have a better sense of humour and avoid the macho blue collar posturing of their American counterparts. The move to Honest Don's should expose them to a lot more people, and this collection of good time, booze-soaked tunes should win them over some street punk fans.
