Reach the Sky

Friends, Lies and the End of the World

BY Stuart GreenPublished Apr 1, 2001

On this sophomore effort, Boston's Reach the Sky continues to hone the brand of melodic East Coast hardcore that they first explored on their amazing debut, So Far From Home. Sounding like a young H20, they've made the choice to go a little more melodic and a little less hardcore. There's still plenty of pent-up punk angst and anger here, but they're starting to show a lighter side, too. Vocalist Ian Larrabee is still developing his singing voice, but the band's musical hooks and driving beats are enough to carry the songs when his crooning fails. By the next album, Reach The Sky will truly be a force to be reckoned with.
