I've never understood why people consider Tricky to be Prince's heir apparent, but Raz Ohara falls somewhere in between both men. Starting from a trippy electronic base, Ohara sings airy melodies with lush harmonies that sometimes take the time to touch down on earth, sometimes not. He's at his best when he's effortlessly funky, as on "Ass for Cash" and the Latinised Pixies cover "Where Is My Mind." Realtime Voyeur isn't a fully realised album, but Ohara has the goods.
