Radiohead may still be uncertain over what they will do with the batch of tunes that may be their new album, but fans looking for a more immediate fix from their favourite band need only wait another week to hear some fresh material. Following guitarist Jonny Greenwood's lush and ominous There Will Be Blood soundtrack, he and Thom Yorke have now collaborated with composer John O'Brien on the score to Edward Norton's new film Stone.
A report on Variety has the actor commending the Radiohead pair on their contributions, explaining that Greenwood signed on for the project after meeting with Norton and director John Curran in London.
"I'm friends with the guys in Radiohead," Norton said. "[Greenwood] and Thom [Yorke] had been playing a lot of weird ambient stuff at the time and so, amazingly, they just unloaded tons and tons of files to us of these sound experiments that they had been doing. We just listened to them in awe until John [Curran] eventually got John O'Brien to come in and see what he could make of it."
While at present it's unclear exactly what the duo added to O'Brien's score, whether they be full songs or atmosphere-building soundscapes, all will be revealed when Stone, which stars Robert De Niro and Milla Jovovich, opens in theatres next Friday (October 8).
