Generation Finale

BY I. KhiderPublished Dec 1, 2001

Clocking in at 35 minutes, Generation Finale is a soundscape for an art installation. A consistent reverberation of synth sounds from the left speaker permeates the entire recording, while unpredictable vocal ejaculations in French burst out from the right. The vocal bursts are meant to jar the listener from passive listening. At first the vocalisations are just fragments of words or erratic stammers, like someone trying to interrupt you, then are extended to full sentences. This goes on for the entire length of the CD. If you are patient listener, the experience is not so bad, it would just help to have the rest of the installation accompany this recording to better understand what the producers are trying to get at.
