Most widely recognised for his C.S. Lewis-esque lyrics and unmistakable falsetto, Coheed & Cambrias main man Claudio Sanchez has stepped out on his own as the Prize Fighter Inferno. Sanchez stays far from Coheeds prog/metal shell, working primarily with vocal melodies and minimal beats, channelling the Postal Service and Sufjan Stevens. The Prize Fighter Inferno is a precursor to the epic tales of Coheeds previous three records, and the folk backdrop actually helps paint Sanchezs stories better than the fiery prog of Coheed. Some of the recordings are decidedly lo-fi, but Sanchezs enchanting voice carries the songs through the various production qualities.
