The Prize Fighter Inferno

Most widely recognised for his C.S. Lewis-esque lyrics and unmistakable falsetto, Coheed & Cambria’s main man Claudio Sanchez has stepped out on his own as the Prize Fighter Inferno. Sanchez stays far from Coheed’s prog/metal shell, working primarily with vocal melodies and minimal beats, channelling the Postal Service and Sufjan Stevens. The Prize Fighter Inferno is a precursor to the epic tales of Coheed’s previous three records, and the folk backdrop actually helps paint Sanchez’s stories better than the fiery prog of Coheed. Some of the recordings are decidedly lo-fi, but Sanchez’s enchanting voice carries the songs through the various production qualities.
