Prize Country

Lottery of Recognition

BY Jasmyn BurkePublished Jun 20, 2007

The thrashing of all instruments and humans involved is the best way to describe Prize Country’s Lottery of Recognition. Their debut CD is like some kind of monster, as they create a wall of noise but at the same time, masterfully fill the spaces with strong bass lines, intense guitar patterns and pulsating drums. With an aggressive polyrhythmic sound, Prize Country’s style wins out over songs as the album runs from beginning to end. With tracks like "A Wink and a Smile” and "Time in Reno,” it is their interesting time signatures that make this band quite appealing. Plus, on their website they have said that they plan on touring this summer, and after hearing this record it seems like their live show would be amazing, displaying nothing but raw energy.
