Toronto's Josh McIntyre — a.k.a. Prince Innocence's Prince Josh — has shared the title track from his upcoming album Moth, coming August 25 via Hand Drawn Dracula.
"The track was written in the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona, in 2022," McIntyre said in a press release. "Time seemed to move slowly in the desert and I was able to focus and spend time on the tiniest of details in this track."
He continued, "The song samples everything from marbles falling off a table, filling a bowl with nails and splashing water. Working entirely on my laptop I had to use the limited resources I had around me to create sounds. The end result sounds like a bad trip in a desert wasteland."
Produced by Jim Anderson (Moby, Massive Attack) and Joel Ford (Jacques Greene, Com Truise), Moth is said to mark a stylistic shift for the former Little Girls member away from the lo-fi haze of his first solo effort, 2020's The Joy, toward a crisper, trip-hop-inspired sound.
