Praises

"Morals" (Iceage cover)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 30, 2014

Instead of hiding under the covers with a box of Kleenex, a hot water bottle and a Netflix-loaded iPad, a recent sick day had Beliefs member Jesse Crowe deciding that playing music would help her recover quicker. Using her Praises guise, she gave Iceage's "Morals" a healthy reworking.

Instead of the original staccato punches of the You're Nothing standout, which the Danes themselves said was inspired by Italian pop star Mina's equally dramatic "L'ultima Occasione," Praises lets the piece play out with a hazy wall of distorted strums. Instead of the see-sawing arrangement of broken-down torch balladry and furious punk beats, Crowe lets her cover slowly hit your core, like a couple extra shots of high-grade NyQuil.
