Pleasure Craft Premieres Video for "Work It Out" Featuring Mingjia

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 27, 2020

Toronto-based songwriter/producer Pleasure Craft (a.k.a. Sam Lewis) has released a new video for his single "Work It Out" featuring Mingjia.

The track toys with dark industrial sounds, before bursting into a full-on pop song at the chorus.

"This song is about the anxiety and mental health problems I associate with my inability to express genuine emotions in relationships," Lewis said in a statement. "A lot of men struggle with this due to our culture teaching us a version of masculinity that is very damaging to ourselves and the people who have to live with us."

The oscillating beige and red strobe lights in the video are meant to symbolize the "strained, aggressive presentation of self" and the "suppressed inner conflict trying to escape."
