PLAZAS

"Silent Empires"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 3, 2016

Vancouver-based musician Savana Salloum-Hedgecock crafts electro-pop music under the moniker PLAZAS, and she's readying a new EP titled Empathy. Before the five-song offering arrives in full, though, Exclaim! has got your exclusive first listen to the lead single "Silent Empires."

Bringing together warm synths and surreal-sounding saxophones, the track conjures up feelings of nostalgia. Atop the dreamy backing instrumentation, Salloum-Hedgecock sings of the conflicting realities of life in a modern metropolis; she says the song "romanticizes the idea of living in a big city while yearning for intimacy."

Hear her come to terms with the busy but lonely vibes of downtown life by giving "Silent Empires" a listen in the player below.

Empathy is expected out later this year on NBD.
