Planningtorock Declares 'All Love's Legal' on New Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Oct 29, 2013

Working under the Planningtorock moniker, Berlin-based electronic performer Janine Rostron has used dance music as a catalyst for gender study, bringing important sociopolitical discussions to the dancefloor. Her third album, All Love's Legal, looks to be the most poignant expression of that yet.

The album, which follows her 2011 effort W and 2012's Patriarchy Over & Out EP, sees the artist exploring the queer origins of the artform, focusing on the liberating nature of dance music. After completing an enormous W tour, as well as previous collaborations with the Knife, LCD Soundsystem and Shit Robot, she determined that she wanted "to create music that is useful."

"Welcome," the opening track from All Love's Legal, has a video directed by the artist herself. Built on stark black-and-white animations and edited film, its an enthralling audiovisual experience. Check it out here.

Planningtorock's All Love's Legal is due in February from the artist's own DFA-distributed Human Level imprint.
