Pharaoh

After the Fire

BY Greg PrattPublished May 1, 2003

The power metal scene needs some fresh blood right now, and Pharaoh are one of the bands who could help out the dying genre. Featuring Tim Aymar (ex-Control Denied) on vocals, Pharaoh may have an incredibly stupid and generic name that will make lots of people not want to listen to them, but they can actually rock pretty hard. When they're not laying down some Maiden-worshipping riffage, they're playing powerful, melodic metal. Think power metal, pre-stench era, add in a bit more classiness and you're on the right track. Taking the uplifting nature of classic ‘80s metal with a modern power feel, Pharaoh combine the elements just right and create a good listen with After the Fire.
