Pete Namlook & Richie Hawtin

From Within III is the third of a projected four-album collaboration between Windsor's finest Hawtin, and Fax label founder Pete Namlook. Their collaborations under the name From Within date back to (at least) 1994 and span several of the most recent definitions of ambient music. Namlook in particular has been closely associated with the genre's '90s renaissance, creating his own works loosely reminiscent of Cluster, and supporting and collaborating with a cast of dozens. The twelve tracks entitled "Silent Intelligence (Part I-XIII)" cover plenty of stylistic territory, most of it tastefully melodic, with only two passing references to space rock guitar wankery. As a whole it feels well-paced and won't disappoint fans.
