Earlier this year, Seattle-based balladeer Perfume Genius (aka Mike Hadreas) delivered his highly personal sophomore set Put Your Back N 2 It. The songwriter has now jumped into someone else's life, specifically Madonna's, for a cover of the Material Girl's 1989 single "Oh Father."
Hadreas laid down his version at Drowned in Sound's cabin at the Latitude Festival in England earlier this month. While it doesn't have the same grand arrangement as the Like a Prayer number, nor does it even play in full, Hadreas's truncated attempt has him delivering Madonna's words delicately atop an old-school Casiotone.
