Peachcake

What Year Will You Have the World?

BY Sarah FergusonPublished Mar 24, 2009

Peachcake is putting the DIY back in electronica with the independent release of What Year Will You Have The World? Their first full-length LP has 15 original tracks that are modern yet retro, new wave yet rave and, while needing a few listens to get into, are catchy as all fuck. Vocalists and musicians Stefan "Space Panda" Pruett and John "DJ John O" O'Keefe make theatrical social commentary dramatically stated by their sincere and passionate vocals. And the lyrics are on-point. Diverse topics cover how the media influences our sexuality, the coolness of girls who got skills and even karma and the U.S. Whacky song titles include "Did I Just Do That, Or Was It Jim Carrey?" and "Welcome To The Party To Save The World!" The art and heart of this album are huge. Peachcake reside in the musical family of Devo or the Pet Shop Boys. Enticing electronic rhythms and currently relevant lyrics make this a wicked first album.
