Drenched in irony, nostalgia and pop appeal, it was only a matter of time before the PC Music collective took over the world. Just yesterday (October 20), the crew's SOPHIE teamed up with Charli XCX for a new single. And now, they're one step closer to total world domination with the news that they've linked up with Columbia Records.
PC Music announced the partnership with an all-caps statement on Facebook. They called it "A NEW, PERFECT BREED OF MAJOR LABEL. A NEW, HIGHLY ADVANCED POP WEAPON"
Expanding on that, they added, "WE'RE VERY EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH COLUMBIA RECORDS, A TRULY ANCIENT INDUSTRY LEGEND. WE'VE BEEN VERY BUSY THIS SUMMER AND FINALLY THE TIME HAS COME TO START UNLEASHING LARGE SCALE CONTENT OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES."
PC Music promised that they'll "CONTINUE TO ENFORCE A FAST PACED PRODUCTION LINE OF LAPLANDERS AND LIFESTYLES, SUPS AND SECRET MIXES, WANNABES, WARLORDS AND WESTERN BEATS. A MULTI-TIER ATTACK EXPOSING THE RADICAL DNA OF CHART MUSIC, AND THE HEART AND SOUL BEHIND EVERY LAB CREATION."
The first major release from the label will be an EP from Danny L Harle, who is the label's first official signee. The four-song Broken Flowers EP will arrive next month on November 20. You can hear its first official single "Forever" below.
