The Pariahs are bringing a little bit of Chapel Hill to Toronto. This is their second release, coming three years after 1996's Home is Where You Hang Yourself. I was a little wary after hearing the first song, "Heart Attack," which comes off like a Tragically Hip-meets-grunge number. After that things pick up, sounding like college rock gone bad. They have a lot of Archers of Loaf and Small 23 running through the mix, and it works well. This CD goes down like a handful of prescription pills with a glass of whiskey.
