Even though it has that "safe" L.A. beach-punk sound, the Original Sinners' seasoned members have seen enough to add some interesting Hollywood dirt to their sound. Giving the big "x" in experience is Exene Cervenka, formerly of legendary L.A. punk rock band X, and her vocals resonate with a touch of everything that has ever made the city's native musical landscape what it is. The songwriting might not be top-notch, but the spirit of the performances portrays something akin to the term "been around the block quite a few times," with a bit of imprisoning physical fatigue and mental weariness. Ironically, it is this kind of music that now might lack a cathartic sound to it, which is beneficial in making its listeners question themselves and strive for something more unique.
