If you've been thinking that today (February 25) has been an especially busy day for show announcements, then it's not just your imagination. Some of these gigs are connected to the annual conference and festival North by Northeast (NXNE), which will be returning to Toronto for its 19th instalment from June 10 to 16.
The initial wave of confirmed performers includes the National (playing a free show at Yonge-Dundas Square), Black Flag spinoff FLAG, Iceage, Joey Bada$$, Calexico, Buke and Gase, Millencolin, Merchandise, Milk Music, Supersuckers, Mickey Avalon, Genetic Control and more.
The shows will take place at venues around Toronto, with free outdoor gigs held at the aforementioned Yonge-Dundas Square.
The festival program also includes film, comedy and art, plus an interactive conference. Various ticketing and wristband options are available at NXNE's website. Be forewarned that a wristband doesn't guarantee access to NXNE Spotlight Series shows (including ones from FLAG and Calexico), so those who want to secure themselves a place should buy a ticket starting this Thursday (February 28).
Get the full scoop over at NXNE's website, and stay tuned for the program to be fleshed out in the coming weeks and months.
