Destroy Whitey/Oh Blessed Freakshow

BY Rob FerrazPublished Aug 1, 2001

The Nipdrivers, L.A.'s underrated '80s hardcore clown kings are once again available for public consumption. This CD contains remastered recordings of their Destroy Whitey EP/Oh Blessed Freak Show LP and their cover of Sweet's "Fox on the Run," from the Desperate Teenage Lovedolls soundtrack. That's 28 tunes in all from a band that likely had an influence on NOFX, more in the how to be obnoxious department than musically. Whether it's covering Olivia Newton John's "Have You Ever Been Mellow?," performing a song called "E.Y.O.B."( stands for "eat yourself out baby") or opening a cover of Duran Duran's "Rio" with the riff from "Nervous Breakdown," these guys probably pissed off a lot of folks back in the day, and this piece of punk history deserves a spot in on your CD rack.
