Not even a full month removed from sharing his Cenizas album, Nicolas Jaar has teed up his third release of 2020.
Over the weekend, Jaar appeared on Radio Alhara to share music from a new effort titled Telas, set to arrive July 17 through Other People.
As Jaar explained on his website — his sixth album involves aural, visual and digital components:
Telas (Veils) is multiple things at once. It's a visual terrain created by artist Somnath Bhatt. It's a record by Nicolás Jaar, with key contributions from Milena Punzi (cello), Susanna Gonzo (voice), Anna Ippolito & Marzio Zorio (instrument makers), and Heba Kadry (mastering). It's a digital terrain created by Abeera Kamran where the sounds and illustrations of Telas live in their liquid primordial states. The site was imagined by Abeera, Somnath and Nicolás as a panspermic terrain where particles travel through space, weaving together life forms, where no matter -whether existing in thought, physical form or other- has a solid or unmovable origin.
Jaar played the first part of Telos, titled "Telahora," on the broadcast, while noting the three remaining parts are named "Telencima," "Telahumo," and "Telallás." You can hear the first part of the record in the player below around the 5:45 mark.
This year has also seen Jaar release 2017-2019 as Against All Logic.
