This re-released slab of cut-up on air, pre-Clear Channel America is a landmark in the history of contemporary audio art. Collins basically designed and constructed sampling hardware that chops and reassembles the radio dial like some manic, ADD-afflicted DJ. It's quite amazing to listen to how fresh and powerful this sounds after 15-plus years. This double-CD offering not only includes the original to vinyl tracks, but also includes some live performances and a software program (bonus!), so you too can shred your aural FM/AM environment. The recorded mash-ups differ in each situation, even more so in the live performances, as the radio landscape alters from city to city and continent to continent. This is slammin' contemporary urbanity that is to hip-hop what Miles Davis's On The Corner was to jazz.
