Pasted Lakes

BY I. KhiderPublished Sep 1, 2003

Listening to this CD is like walking into a gallery of 15 different collages of assorted textures. Though short, each work is carefully crafted and complete in itself. Some pieces blend together like different hues of the same colour, whereas other pieces are jarring and abrupt. Whatever the intensity of the pieces, all the works share a flow. Some of the sounds evoke a reminiscence of something warm and familiar, but this gives way to myriad other sounds that break off into wayward tangents. What all these works seem to share is an affinity for chaos. There is a moodiness and unexpected musical turns that make the term collage so apt. Pasted Lakes is organic and alive, unlike most electronically assembled collage material, this stuff breathes and thrives.
