Nick Cave's son Jethro Lazenby has passed away. The musician confirmed the news with The Independent today. No cause of death has been revealed. The actor, photographer and model was 31 years old.
"With much sadness, I can confirm that my son, Jethro, has passed away," Cave told the publication. "We would be grateful for family privacy at this time."
Lazenby, who also went by Jethro Cave, was known for roles in the 2007's Corroboree and 2011's My Little Princess. Throughout his modelling career, he would photograph for Balenciaga and Versace, as well as Celine creative director Hedi Slimane.
Growing up in Australia, Lazenby didn't meet his father until he was at least seven years old. "To my eternal regret, I didn't make much contact with Jethro in the early years, but I now have a great relationship with him," his father revealed in 2008.
In March, he was jailed after assaulting his mother, Beau Lazenby, in Melbourne. Prior to his release last week, Lazenby's lawyer announced that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. He had previously been charged with assault in relation to a 2018 incident involving his then-girlfriend.
His death comes just seven years after the passing Cave's other son, Arthur Cave, who died after falling from a cliff in 2015 at age 15.
