Formed in '95 by Girls Against Boys members Scott McCloud and Johnny Temple, New Wet Kojak have released their third and best album to date. Where the earlier albums tended to linger in prolonged vamps, Do Things is more focused with more sophisticated song structures. Like Morphine grafted onto Here Come The Warm Jets, NWK create cover hard grooves with a blanket of unsettling sexiness that keeps the imagination warm. There is always a creepy sample somewhere in the mix adding a tension fitting for a slasher flick, somehow perfectly tempered by Charles Bennington's lonely saxophone. While the tempos and overall feeling is subdued, there is no lack of inspiration. Fans of evening solitude will find a great soundtrack for their nocturnal dreams of scoring exactly what life offers. Tomorrow.
