American Northwest garage-pop set Nevada Bachelors are the kind of guys you'd find jamming in the basement of the gross, run-down house three doors over from you in your local university ghetto. Earnest, somewhat interesting, not especially enticing radio-friendly tunes sprinkle their second full-length album, with numbers that can be finger-snappin' catchy ("No Reason," "Mitzi" and "Darius") to kind of irritating ("Sophomore," "Thought"). Catchiness rules, with hooks that evoke a souped-up British Invasion feel without the novelty and a primitiveness without the fuzz. Ingredients include drummer Jason "Presidents of the USA" Finn and members of Thistle, but without something spicy, this band remains fairly vanilla.
