As is our pleasure every Thursday, we've dug through our Concert Listings sections for the biggest and best shows hitting our nation this week. Below are our selections from the shows happening May 15 to 21 to help find some concert goodness near you.
Atmosphere
Minneapolis rap duo Atmosphere are performing a lengthy tour dubbed the North of Hell tour, which marks their first time in Canada since 2011. They're touring on the back of their recently released LP Southsiders, and if this is anything like the last time, you'd better see them now unless you want to wait three more years.
05/15 Calgary, AB – Flames Central
05/16 Calgary, AB – Flames Central
05/17 Edmonton, AB – Union Hall
05/18 Regina, SK – The Exchange
05/20 Winnipeg, MB – Garrick Centre
Current Swell
It's always special to see a band perform in their hometown. It's even more special when it's on the one-of-a-kind Red Bull Tour Bus that transforms into a fully-functional stage, complete with necessary audio equipment. Current Swell are doing just that in support of their recently released Ulysses LP, and it's absolutely free!
05/17 Victoria, BC – Inner Harbour (Red Bull Tour Bus)
HAIM
Following a cover appearance for our December 2013 issue, the sisters in HAIM performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, released a music video for "If I Could Change Your Mind" and covered Beyoncé. This is one of two Canada dates (the other being Vancouver) the trio have announced in support of the still-excellent Days Are Gone.
05/15 Toronto, ON – Kool Haus
Kaytranada
Rising Montreal-raised Haitian producer Kaytranada has travelled the world on tour, so Edmonton fans should catch his only appearance west of Ontario until a July show in Pemberton, BC marks the last of them announced for the year.
05/15 Edmonton, AB – The Starlite Room
Neko Case
Touring in support of her 2013 effort with the ridiculously long title, The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You, alt-country artist Neko Case is returning to Canadian stages. Eager fans better catch the sometimes-New Pornographer before she runs out of breath from repeating that album title.
05/17 Winnipeg, MB – Burton Cummings Theatre
05/18 Saskatoon, SK – The Odeon
05/19 Edmonton, AB – Winspear Centre
Panda Bear
This performance marks the first ever solo Canadian appearance for Panda Bear, who is also a member of Animal Collective. It's also the only Canadian tour on this tour in anticipation of an upcoming release, tentatively titled Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper.
05/20 Toronto, ON – The Opera House
Yukon Blonde
Yukon Blonde aren't from the Yukon; they're from Kelowna, BC, where they'll be returning aboard the Red Bull Tour Bus to perform a free show. Considering Tiger Talk was released in 2012, the band very well could take a break from the touring cycle soon to create a new album, so see them while you can.
05/19 Kelowna, BC – City Park (Red Bull Tour Bus)
