Fresh off detailing a new instalment of his Official Release Series, Neil Young has now set release dates for the next three entries in his Official Bootleg Series.
Following last year's Carnegie Hall 1970 are Dorothy Chandler Pavilion 1971, Royce Hall 1971 and Citizen Kane Jr. Blues 1974.
As the artist's Neil Young Archives site outlines, all three titles will arrive May 6 digitally — except via Spotify — and on CD, while vinyl pressings will follow on June 3.
The sets played by Young on Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Royce Hall — both recorded in Los Angeles — are nearly identical, and though longtime Young bootleg collectors may be familiar with the recordings, these new issues promise "radically better sound from our masters," as the artist shared upon announcing the series in 2020.
Citizen Kane Jr. Blues will then take listeners to the East Coast, capturing an unannounced performance from Young at the Bottom Line in New York. "In my mind it's a hazy memory," Young wrote of the evening on his Neil Young Archives site in 2020, "but this moment really captures the essence of where I was in 1974. Two months later, the album On the Beach was released, including songs I played that night — 'Ambulance Blues,' 'Revolution Blues,' 'On the Beach' and 'Motion Pictures.'"
