Neckers

A Whole Mess O' Trouble

BY Rob NayPublished Jun 1, 2002

The Neckers' eight-song EP features brisk rock'n'roll with turbulent rhythms and a degree of humour. The title track's hyperactive pace and rapid changes establish the tone for the songs that follow. "Nobody Listens to Turtle" offers frantic pop and "Gothic Girlfriend" begins with slow and exaggerated, "tongue in cheek" vocal harmonies before quickly transforming into hectically played three-chord rock. "Danny Fields" commences with a mock surf rock intro and then changes into upbeat power pop, while "Teenage Moustache" closes off the disc with a mildly frantic tempo and wild vocals. Overall, the Neckers offer capably played goofball rock'n'roll.
