Long-running outfit Mustard Plug apparently Can't Contain It any longer, having announced they'll soon be squirting their ska-punk goodness on their devoted next year with an album of the same name.
A press release confirms that the act's seventh full-length studio release, and first since 2007's In Black and White, is due to be released January 14 through new label home No Idea Records. The band's last four LPs had been issued by Hopeless.
Can't Contain It was tracked at bassist Rick Johnson's Cold War Studios in Grand Rapids, MI, and that luxury apparently led the outfit to experiment in the studio. In addition to their regular lineup, the recording features guest musicianship from Dan Potthast, Sean Bonnett, Mark Petz and Corey Ruffin.
"I think this record is going to force a lot of people to reassess what Mustard Plug is," vocalist Dave Kirchgessner said in a statement. "I feel we've turned a new chapter in the band. Instead of just trying to document a bunch of songs that we play live, we took our time and got more creative in the studio and built recordings that stand on their own. Our line up is the tightest its ever been. This album is strong evolution in our sound and our art while still staying true to the goal of playing party music for punk rockers."
Following recording sessions, Can't Contain It was mixed at Bill Stevenson's Blasting Room Studios in Colorado. Mustard Plug are streaming a sneak preview of the LP in the form of "White Noise," which you can check out in the player down below.
