Twin sisters Chantal and Kathleen Ambridge are the Muscadettes, a band whose sun-drenched, reverb-laden sound reflects an upbringing on '60s surf tunes and grungy '90s garage rock. The Montrealers released the Side A EP in spring, and are making us wait for the ensuing Side B. In the meantime, they're keeping us satisfied with gritty, groovy live performances.
We brought our cameras aboard the M for Montreal Bruise Cruise during NXNE to catch footage of the duo for Exclaim! TV, where the girls and their backup band performed the single "Growing Pains."
The Muscadettes' violent string scratching is matched with aggressive vocals, until the sisters sweeten the distortion with a sugary chorus. Get on board with the honeyed harmonies and jangling rock by watching the clip below.
