Vancouver artist Chandra Melting Tallow is gearing up to release her debut LP Baby Blue under the moniker Mourning Coup next week, but before it officially lands, Exclaim! is streaming the record in its entirety.
Melting Tallow comes from a background of performance art, but started working under the name Mourning Coup as a vehicle for exploring pop music. She's spent the last five years crafting the pieces that appear on Baby Blue, and that time and dedication manifests itself in the layered, intricate and entirely unique songs.
From the digitized echoes of opener "I Will Never Die" to the bouncing, distorted synths of "Master" to the pulsating rhythm and glitched-out melody of the title track, Baby Blue provides listeners with an eclectic offering of experimental electro-pop.
Baby Blue is out on August 7 via No Sun Recordings, but you can give it an early listen in the player below, right now.
